Heat transfer performance and prediction of open pulsating heat pipe for self-cooling cutting tool

The pulsating heat pipe (PHP) can be used to transfer massive reduce the thermal damage cutting tool when machining difficult-to-cut materials. To select a better open PHP, performance was experimentally investigated in this study. operating characteristics of different types working fluids under flux were analyzed compared with closed PHP. Visual experiments established verify experimental characteristics. effects flux, length, ratio inner/outer diameter, and inclination angle on equivalent resistance analyzed. Based data four boosting integrating learning methods, model for prediction proposed. based CatBoost method had goodness-of-fit best effect. R2, MAPE, RMSE validation set best, which are 0.9258, 7.2564, 0.1057 respectively. In addition, contribution input parameters output results evaluated, while L, Di/Do, Pr top three variables. Sub-tree structures explain also presented. This proposed most suitable PHP before designing self-cooling tools.
